Global Kindle EBook Reader

In 2007 when the Kindle EBook reader was first released I was very skeptical. I just didn’t think anyone would want to read books on a digital device rather than holding a real book in their hands. I think I assumed that the screen would “glare” like a computer screen and that would be annoying.

It turns out that I was wrong. Amazon has had a huge amount of success with the Kindle. I think a lot of that success is because the gadget actually doesn’t have any problem with glare so that it reads like a book even in bright light. Plus they also have another feature that’s really amazing; they can use text to speech technology to actually read your books to you! This turns all of your books into audio books. How cool is that?

I’ve also been really blown away by the gigantic selection of newspapers, magazines, & books that are available to download (and it only takes 60 seconds to download a whole EBook) at The Kindle Store.

On top of the huge selection that is available for the Kindle, I also noticed that the prices for the download versions of these books were far lower than the paperback prices. It was then that I realized that the Kindle isn’t only a really convenient way of carrying around your entire library with you wherever you go, it’s also a way of saving money in the long run on book buying!

Through October of 2009 the Kindle eBook reader had been only available to Americans. With the release of the awesome Kindle with Global Cellphone Like Wireless Service that is no longer the case! This amazing reading device works in over 100 countries around the world with cellphone technology. I know you are probably be thinking: “But how much does the wireless service cost?” The answer is nothing! It’s a lot like GPS. Once you’ve bought it, that’s it. No more fees. Ever.
